Some commission work

US Rifle Company

A couple of weeks ago i finished up painting a commission job. Which was a US rifle company, painted up as 1st infantry division, in Normandy.

The job took me quite some time to finish, as i painted a lot of detail and a lot of paint layers. I think it's too much for this scale actually. But overall they are some of the best Americans I've ever done. Now the only problem is that I feel like i should repaint all my figures to this standard :-D

The core of the company includes:

- Company HQ
- 2 Rifle platoons
- 1 weapons platoon.

The models are the new plastic figures from Battlefront, quite liked them, very sharp and with clean lines. One of the only negative things to the new plastic models, is the figures limited poses. There's not very much variation, which I personally like. For example there is only two different stand of bazooka men.

I painted it up in standard US uniforms, with rank chevrons, and division patches on the left arm. I also tried some black lining to make the details pop even more. I really like the result.

The basing is done in summer theme. One of the platoons is on a field with some red flowers, to distinguish the platoons from each other.

M51 Quad AA

Finished up some more AA, quite happy with the result. This is also one of my first attempts to use a filter. Used the AK Filter for Nato tanks with a couple of layers, I think it adds some depth to the minis. But not sure if I like the change to the bit darker colour. I will put some pictures up soon of a recently painted Sherman platoon, which I also used filters on.

This is also one of my first attempts to paint rank chevrons on to the minis. After a lot of researching on the platoon organisation, I came to the conclusion that there should be one Sergeant in each platoon and the rest is privates. Not sure how many corporals and etc. was in the team. The command team consist of a plt. commander (a lieutenant) and a (staff) sergeant and a runner/private. Painted the chevrons first with german grey and then Iraqi Sand.

The basing should look like they deployed on a field somewhere in France.

Currently working on a repaint of my US Assault company, lots of infantry stands..

Here you can see the rank chevrons painted on the left arm.
This one has a lot off spend shell casings, to add some realism.

40mm Bofors AA

Finally painted up some Anti air for my Americans, it has been something that I've been missing for quite some time. First off is the boors, just 2 guns and a command team.

Next up is the M2 50. cal AA and just need to get the basing done on the two M49 quad. And when that's done, I'm moving on to some bigger guns the 90mm gun.

Based the guns to make them look like they have been dug in, some place in the rear. With spent shell casings, 30. cal MG and ammunition boxes.

After I've taken these pictures i also painted rank chevrons on the guys.

No matter what I do the minis seem glossy on the pictures, but they aren't in real life.

The command team (only had room for 2 figures, wanted to use the wheels on the base)

Armoured Artillery Battery

Painted up some M7 Priest's, staff team, command team and the M4 Sherman observer from the 7th armoured box set. Now i only need to finest the platoon with 3 more Priests.

Just got some new chairs, which seems to be the perfect light box :-D

I just painted rank chevrons onto my men, after a lot of research on how the ranks were in a platoon. Turned out quite nice, even though i had my worries that I couldn't paint such small detail.

Only thing I need is to give the bases a lot of empty shells, and repaint the green finer tubes to black.

M4A3 76mm Shermans

Finished up a platoon of M4A3 76mm Shermans. Finally bought some matt varnish, so i could finish my figures and get some pictures.

Yeah you are probably wondering where the fifth tank is. The tanks are from the 7th armoured army box, there's only 4 M4A3 76mm and normal 75mm and only 3 Jumbos. But what the hell, how often are you using more than 3 jumbos in a game? So stay tuned for more tanks from this box set.

I also bought the improvised armour for this box set, these are the first tanks I've used them on. Quite cool for some added detail. I only added the improvised front armour for two Shermans, and the improvised side armour on the command vehicle.

I have come to the conclusion that I need to use another colour for the chips, the plain white stand out too much.

Enjoy

Used the gale forcenine iron cable to add extra detail for the first time. Really had a hard time bending the cable in to the shape I wanted, but I did it.
